A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to eligibility for the Preparation for Adult Living |
|
|
Program for former foster youth. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 264.121, Family Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-8) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-8) The department shall allow a former foster care youth |
|
|
to participate in the Preparation for Adult Living Program until |
|
|
the youth's 25th birthday. A former foster care youth may return to |
|
|
the program as necessary to complete the program. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
