A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an annual study on motor vehicle collisions in this |
|
|
state. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 201.212 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 201.212. ANNUAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION STUDY. (a) |
|
|
The department shall conduct an annual study of motor vehicle |
|
|
collisions in this state. As part of the study, the department |
|
|
shall: |
|
|
(1) identify the 50 areas in this state with the most |
|
|
frequent motor vehicle collisions; and |
|
|
(2) develop a plan to reduce motor vehicle collisions |
|
|
in each area identified under Subdivision (1). |
|
|
(b) Not later than September 1 of each year, the department |
|
|
shall prepare and submit a report to the governor, lieutenant |
|
|
governor, and legislature that: |
|
|
(1) contains the results of the study conducted under |
|
|
this section; |
|
|
(2) lists the areas identified under Subsection |
|
|
(a)(1); and |
|
|
(3) provides the plan developed under Subsection |
|
|
(a)(2). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
