A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to required notice of an appeal to the commissioner of |
|
|
education regarding certain actions or decisions by a school |
|
|
district. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 7.057, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-2) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-2) The commissioner shall provide written notice of an |
|
|
appeal under Subsection (a)(2) to: |
|
|
(1) the superintendent of the school district that is |
|
|
the subject of the grievance; and |
|
|
(2) the board of trustees of the school district that |
|
|
is the subject of the grievance. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 7.057(a-2), Education Code, as added by |
|
|
this Act, applies to an appeal submitted to the commissioner of |
|
|
education on or after the effective date of this Act. An appeal |
|
|
submitted to the commissioner of education before the effective |
|
|
date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the |
|
|
appeal was submitted, and the former law is continued in effect for |
|
|
that purpose. |

|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
