A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement advisory |
|
committee regarding active shooter response training for peace |
|
officers. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 1701.171 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 1701.171. ACTIVE SHOOTER RESPONSE TRAINING ADVISORY |
|
COMMITTEE. (a) The commission shall establish an advisory |
|
committee to make recommendations to the commission regarding the |
|
active shooter response training program required under Sections |
|
1701.253(q), as added by Chapter 102 (S.B. 1852), Acts of the 88th |
|
Legislature, Regular Session, 2023, and 1701.3525, including |
|
recommendations related to the content and implementation of the |
|
training program. |
|
(b) The advisory committee consists of five members |
|
appointed by the commission. |
|
(c) Chapter 2110, Government Code, does not apply to the |
|
size or composition of the advisory committee. |
|
SECTION 2. It is the intent of the 89th Legislature, Regular |
|
Session, 2025, that the amendments made by this Act be harmonized |
|
with another Act of the 89th Legislature, Regular Session, 2025, |
|
relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted |
|
codes. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
