A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to certain electronic documentation for the transfer of a |
|
|
motor vehicle title. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 501.174, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows: |
|
|
(g) If a document, including a secure document, is executed |
|
|
with an electronic signature and electronically transmitted to the |
|
|
department in accordance with the requirements of this section, the |
|
|
department may not require as a condition of accepting the |
|
|
document: |
|
|
(1) the electronic signature to be physically printed |
|
|
or affixed upon the document; or |
|
|
(2) evidence of the stamped invalidation of a |
|
|
superseded or invalidated title or certified copy of title. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
