A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the composition of districts 45 and 73 for the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. (a) State representative districts 45 and 73, as |
|
|
established by Chapter 1, Acts of the 87th Legislature, 3rd Called |
|
|
Session, 2021, are modified by transferring blocks 1000, 1001, |
|
|
1002, and 1003 of Hays County tract 010816 from district 45 to |
|
|
district 73. |
|
|
(b) In this section, "block" and "tract" have the meanings |
|
|
assigned by Section 1, Article III, Chapter 1, Acts of the 87th |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, 2021. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The changes to the districts described by |
|
|
Section 1 of this Act apply to the election of the members of the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives beginning with the primary and |
|
|
general elections in 2026 for members of the 90th Legislature. This |
|
|
Act does not affect the membership or districts of the House of |
|
|
Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the |
|
|
legislative session. |
