A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the installation of a filtration system by certain |
|
|
public drinking water supply systems. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 341.036, Health and Safety Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(b-1) The commission by order may require a public drinking |
|
|
water supply system that obtains its water supply from an |
|
|
underground source to install a filtration system for the well for |
|
|
that source if: |
|
|
(1) the commission has previously recommended that the |
|
|
public water system install a filtration system for the well for |
|
|
that source; and |
|
|
(2) the public water system: |
|
|
(A) has not maintained the well for that source |
|
|
in accordance with commission rules; or |
|
|
(B) has been the subject of more than one |
|
|
complaint concerning that source submitted to the commission during |
|
|
the previous year. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
