A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the installation of advanced x-ray inspection |
|
|
technology systems at certain Texas-Mexico border crossings. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 411.02091 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 411.02091. ADVANCED X-RAY INSPECTION TECHNOLOGY |
|
|
SYSTEMS AT INTERNATIONAL BORDER CROSSINGS. (a) The department, in |
|
|
collaboration with the Texas Department of Transportation, shall |
|
|
install advanced x-ray inspection technology systems that are |
|
|
non-intrusive at Texas-Mexico international border crossings to |
|
|
inspect commercial motor vehicles, as determined by the Texas |
|
|
Department of Transportation, in order to ensure safe, efficient, |
|
|
and streamlined commercial motor vehicle connectivity. |
|
|
(b) The department shall coordinate the installation of |
|
|
inspection technology systems described by Subsection (a) with the |
|
|
installation of similar technology systems by federal agencies as |
|
|
necessary to implement this section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
