A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a classroom teacher's right to appeal to the |
|
commissioner of education regarding the teacher's designation |
|
under a local optional teacher designation system. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 21.3521, Education Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (f-1) to read as follows: |
|
(f-1) A classroom teacher may appeal to the commissioner if, |
|
based on the teacher's performance, the teacher believes that but |
|
for the school district's, open-enrollment charter school's, or |
|
agency's error the teacher would have earned a specific designation |
|
and the teacher: |
|
(1) fails to earn any designation; or |
|
(2) is issued a designation other than that |
|
designation. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
