A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a person's eligibility for an occupational license |
|
based on a conviction for an offense under federal law. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 53.021, Occupations Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
|
(b-1) A licensing authority shall revoke a license, |
|
disqualify a person from receiving a license, or deny to a person |
|
the opportunity to take a licensing examination on the grounds that |
|
the person has been convicted of any offense under federal law. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 53.021, Occupations Code, as amended by |
|
this Act, applies only to conduct that occurs on or after the |
|
effective date of this Act. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
