A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to exempting medical care provided by a midwife from being |
|
|
considered as neglect of a child. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 261.001, Family Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subdivision (3-a) to read as follows: |
|
|
(3-a) "Medical provider" means an individual who is licensed, |
|
|
certified, or otherwise authorized to provide health care services |
|
|
in this state. The term includes a midwife, as defined by Section |
|
|
203.002, Occupations Code, and a nurse midwife as described by |
|
|
Section 301.152, Occupations Code. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
