A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a review and revision of the essential knowledge and |
|
|
skills of the science curriculum by the State Board of Education. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 28, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 28.0025 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 28.0025. REVIEW AND REVISION OF SCIENCE CURRICULUM. |
|
|
(a) Not later than March 1, 2026, the State Board of Education |
|
|
shall review and revise, as needed, the essential knowledge and |
|
|
skills of the science curriculum under Section 28.002(a)(1)(C) to |
|
|
ensure the curriculum: |
|
|
(1) is relevant to student education; |
|
|
(2) is up to date; and |
|
|
(3) aligns with national and state standards for |
|
|
science education. |
|
|
(b) This section expires September 1, 2026. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
