A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment to require a person to submit |
|
|
proof of citizenship to register to vote. |
|
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 2, Article VI, Texas Constitution, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) A person desiring to register to vote must submit an |
|
|
application and proof of citizenship to the registrar of the county |
|
|
in which the person resides. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2025. |
|
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment to require a person to |
|
|
submit proof of citizenship to register to vote." |
