A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment limiting the extraterritorial |
|
|
criminal jurisdiction of this state. |
|
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Article I, Texas Constitution, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 10a to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 10a. A person may not be prosecuted for or convicted of |
|
|
a criminal offense in this state based solely on the person's |
|
|
conduct occurring in another state if that conduct is legal in the |
|
|
state in which it occurred and if each element of the conduct that |
|
|
is prohibited in this state occurred solely in the other state. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2025. |
|
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment limiting the |
|
|
extraterritorial criminal jurisdiction of this state." |
