A JOINT RESOLUTION
  proposing a constitutional amendment allowing an impeached officer
  to continue in office pending the impeachment trial.
         BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 5, Article XV, Texas Constitution, is
  amended to read as follows:
         Sec. 5.  All officers against whom articles of impeachment
  may be preferred are entitled to continue to [shall be suspended
  from the] exercise [of] the duties of their office, during the
  pendency of such impeachment.  [The Governor may make a provisional
  appointment to fill the vacancy, occasioned by the suspension of an
  officer until the decision on the impeachment.]
         SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
  submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2025.
  The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
  proposition: "The constitutional amendment allowing an impeached
  officer to continue in office pending the impeachment trial."
