R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends suffered an immeasurable loss |
|
with the tragic passing of Lyndsey Captain Vicknair of Manor on June |
|
15, 2024, at the age of 33; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on December 31, 1990, to Bobby and Lena |
|
Captain, the former Lyndsey Captain grew up with the companionship |
|
of a sister, Laura-Marie; after graduating from Mansfield High |
|
School in 2008, she earned her bachelor's degree in criminal |
|
justice from Prairie View A&M University in 2010; she furthered her |
|
education by obtaining a juris doctor degree from South Texas |
|
College of Law in 2013 and a master of legal studies degree in oil, |
|
gas, and energy resources from the University of Oklahoma in 2020; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Mrs. Vicknair was |
|
working as a construction attorney with the Chapman Firm in Austin, |
|
where she was recognized as a promising young professional; she was |
|
active in several industry organizations, including the Austin |
|
Young Lawyers Association, the Austin Bar Association, and various |
|
sections of the State Bar of Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Vicknair enjoyed the |
|
love and support of her husband, Kevin Vicknair, and their three |
|
children, Kenzi, Kairo, and Kya; in her leisure time, she enjoyed |
|
traveling and attending concerts and sporting events; she and her |
|
husband set an inspiring example of charitable involvement for |
|
their children by organizing fundraisers and food drives and taking |
|
part in other community outreach activities, and after her son was |
|
diagnosed with sickle cell anemia in 2020, she dedicated herself to |
|
promoting awareness of the disease; and |
|
WHEREAS, During her years on this earth, Lyndsey Vicknair |
|
demonstrated a passion for life and a steadfast commitment to the |
|
causes in which she believed, and those who were fortunate enough to |
|
know her will never forget the love and friendship that she shared |
|
with them; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lyndsey Captain |
|
Vicknair and extend heartfelt condolences to her family: to her |
|
husband, Kevin Vicknair; to her children, Kenzi, Kairo, and Kya; to |
|
her sister, Laura-Marie Captain; to her cousins; and to her many |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lyndsey |
|
Captain Vicknair. |
