R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |
|
a close with the passing of James Bobbitt of the Flower Mound Fire |
|
Department on December 12, 2024, at the age of 50; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on August 23, 1974, to Daniel and Glenda |
|
Bobbitt, James Bobbitt grew up in Springtown with the companionship |
|
of a brother, Tommy; he worked as a volunteer firefighter in his |
|
hometown for a decade, and he was recognized with the Rookie of the |
|
Year award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Bobbitt went on to join the Flower Mound Fire |
|
Department in 2007; during his 17-year tenure, he was twice named |
|
Firefighter of the Year, and he was widely admired for his skill and |
|
composure under pressure; over the years, he readily gave advice |
|
and encouragement to anyone who needed it, and he served as a mentor |
|
to many recruits; after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer, he |
|
made it his mission to see the disease added to the state's list of |
|
presumptive cancers for firefighters in order to ensure that others |
|
with the condition more easily receive much-needed support; his |
|
fellow firefighters have since taken on the cause; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bobbitt enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, Amy, and he was deeply devoted to his |
|
daughter, Addison, and stepchildren, CJ, Rachael, Hillary, and |
|
Justin; and |
|
WHEREAS, James Bobbitt dedicated his life to protecting his |
|
fellow citizens, and although he is missed, he leaves behind a |
|
record of service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Bobbitt and |
|
extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family, his friends, |
|
and his colleagues; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James |
|
Bobbitt. |
