R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of James Bobbitt of the Flower Mound Fire
  Department on December 12, 2024, at the age of 50; and
         WHEREAS, Born on August 23, 1974, to Daniel and Glenda
  Bobbitt, James Bobbitt grew up in Springtown with the companionship
  of a brother, Tommy; he worked as a volunteer firefighter in his
  hometown for a decade, and he was recognized with the Rookie of the
  Year award; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Bobbitt went on to join the Flower Mound Fire
  Department in 2007; during his 17-year tenure, he was twice named
  Firefighter of the Year, and he was widely admired for his skill and
  composure under pressure; over the years, he readily gave advice
  and encouragement to anyone who needed it, and he served as a mentor
  to many recruits; after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer, he
  made it his mission to see the disease added to the state's list of
  presumptive cancers for firefighters in order to ensure that others
  with the condition more easily receive much-needed support; his
  fellow firefighters have since taken on the cause; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bobbitt enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Amy, and he was deeply devoted to his
  daughter, Addison, and stepchildren, CJ, Rachael, Hillary, and
  Justin; and
         WHEREAS, James Bobbitt dedicated his life to protecting his
  fellow citizens, and although he is missed, he leaves behind a
  record of service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Bobbitt and
  extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family, his friends,
  and his colleagues; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James
  Bobbitt.
