R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The girls' water polo team from Brazoswood High
  School in Clute reached the pinnacle of success by winning the 6A
  championship at the 2024 University Interscholastic League Water
  Polo State Tournament; and
         WHEREAS, The Lady Buccaneers dropped just two regular-season
  games and clinched the District 12-6A title; they continued to
  excel in the playoffs, besting Houston Clear Lake, La Porte, League
  City Clear Springs, Cypress Creek, and Pearland Dawson High Schools
  to punch their ticket to state for the third consecutive year; and
         WHEREAS, On October 25, at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San
  Antonio, Brazoswood prevailed 14-8 over Southlake Carroll High in
  the semifinals; the next day, the Lady Bucs battled two-time
  defending state champion Richmond Foster High School for the 6A
  state crown in what proved to be a nail-biting showdown; trailing by
  three entering the fourth quarter, they staged an impressive
  comeback, scoring four goals to force overtime; Brazoswood threw in
  two shots in the first extra period to take the advantage and then
  dialed up the defensive pressure to hold its opponent scoreless in
  the second OT; triumphing by the final score of 11-9, the team
  brought home the school's first state title in girls' water polo and
  ended with an outstanding record of 28-2; and
         WHEREAS, Brazoswood was led in the state final by Most
  Valuable Player Mallory Kesler, and she was joined on the 6A
  All-Tournament Team by Gigi Lower and Hope Kadlecik; the Lady
  Buccaneers also received vital contributions during the year from
  the other members of the roster: Jaycie Fort, Kendall Dane, Sarah
  Mitterling, Lexie Mican, Anna Reuschle, Emma Meservy, Sophia
  Guajardo, Allie Jones, Therese Braun, Larissa Bracken, Emerson
  Montgomery, Michelle Ebey, Ava Crisp, Lucy Sanchez, Cooper Dane,
  and Kesleigh Corn; these talented student-athletes were guided by
  head coach Robert Brown and assistant coach Kiel Haner; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the Brazoswood Lady Bucs may indeed
  reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Brazoswood High School girls'
  water polo team on winning the 2024 UIL 6A state championship and
  extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
