R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce is
  celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025, and this occasion
  provides a welcome opportunity to honor this outstanding civic
  organization; and
         WHEREAS, Established on November 13, 1925, the Greater Taylor
  Chamber of Commerce was founded by local businesspeople who wanted
  to make a positive difference in their community; Stephen G.
  Gernert was elected as its first president in December 1925, and the
  chamber was formally chartered by the State of Texas on February 16,
  1926; and
         WHEREAS, Local businesses have been the driving force behind
  the success of the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce, and it
  currently has more than 360 members from a wide range of industries,
  including finance, retail, transportation, and manufacturing,
  representing thousands of employees in Taylor and the surrounding
  area; and
         WHEREAS, The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recognizes chambers
  throughout the country with accreditation for their dedication to
  reviewing, improving, and promoting strong business practices,
  recognizing leadership and outstanding contributions to the
  community, and supporting the principles of free enterprise; the
  Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce was awarded Five-Star
  Distinction accreditation in November 2024, placing the
  organization in the top three percent of chambers in the United
  States; and
         WHEREAS, Over the past century, the Greater Taylor Chamber of
  Commerce has played an integral role in the growth and prosperity of
  the community, and it is indeed deserving of recognition as it marks
  this special milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Greater
  Taylor Chamber of Commerce and extend to its members sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the chamber as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
