R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Each holiday season, the Lone Star Celebration
  Christmas Tree welcomes visitors to the House chamber in the State
  Capitol, and in 2024, Gabriela Garza of Edinburg North High School
  was selected to be the designer of the ornament for House
  District 35; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Julio and Maria Garza, Gaby Garza is
  a junior at Edinburg North High and has distinguished herself
  through her exceptional talent in art; she has taken the AP Drawing
  course and received a score of 5 for her portfolio in the 2D Design
  course, one of the highest rankings in the nation, and during her
  sophomore year, she advanced to the statewide Visual Arts
  Scholastic Event and won the prestigious Gold Seal Medallion;
  moreover, she has exhibited her work to tremendous success at the
  Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show, where she was crowned grand
  champion, and at the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival, where she
  was named overall champion in the art contest; and
         WHEREAS, Recognized as one of the most promising young
  artists of the Rio Grande Valley, Ms. Garza achieved a remarkable
  feat by being selected as a winner of the Congressional Art
  Competition for two years in a row; as the honoree for Texas' 15th
  Congressional District, she was chosen to have two of her pieces
  displayed at the U.S. Capitol as part of an exhibit that is viewed
  by millions of visitors each year; and
         WHEREAS, In crafting the ornament for House District 35, Gaby
  Garza is helping to further one of the State Capitol's most iconic
  holiday traditions, and it is a pleasure to join her family, her
  school, and her community in honoring this fine young Texan for her
  achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Gabriela Garza for designing the House
  District 35 ornament for the Lone Star Celebration Christmas Tree
  and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all
  her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
