H.R. No. 130

	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, A delegation of civic and business leaders from the
	Coastal Bend region of Texas is visiting Austin on February 12,
	2025, to celebrate Coastal Bend Day at the State Capitol; and
	WHEREAS, Each year, the Coastal Bend welcomes more than
	10 million travelers to experience its vibrant culture and natural
	beauty; these visitors bring significant economic benefits to the
	region, infusing the City of Corpus Christi and surrounding areas
	with over a billion dollars annually and sustaining thousands of
	jobs; and
	WHEREAS, Highlights for visitors to the region include Padre
	Island National Seashore, the Texas State Aquarium, the USS
	Lexington aircraft carrier, and a variety of youth and amateur
	sporting events; these attractions enable families to come
	together, build lasting memories, and appreciate the natural and
	cultural wealth of the area; and
	WHEREAS, The Coastal Bend has a rich history and has been
	recognized as Texas' only World War II heritage site by the National
	Park Service; this designation commemorates Naval Air Station
	Corpus Christi's status as a training ground for more than 35,000
	naval aviators, which greatly contributed to the success of the war
	effort; and
	WHEREAS, Corpus Christi, the eighth largest city in Texas,
	will soon be home to the state's first municipally owned seawater
	desalination facility; in addition, the Port of Corpus Christi
	serves as a vital economic engine that brings opportunity to the
	Coastal Bend and beyond; as the largest port in the United States by
	total revenue tonnage, it is a key driver for commercial growth in
	Texas and throughout the nation; and
	WHEREAS, Educational institutions such as Texas A&M
	University-Corpus Christi, Del Mar Community College, Coastal Bend
	College, and schools within the Corpus Christi Independent School
	District offer access to knowledge and training, helping students
	and members of the workforce to prepare for the future while
	encouraging them to develop a greater understanding of the
	important role they play in the community; and
	WHEREAS, The residents of the Coastal Bend are working
	together to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all,
	bringing their shared vision to life through hard work,
	collaboration, and appreciation for the unique and dynamic region
	they call home; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of 89th Texas
	Legislature hereby recognize February 12, 2025, as Coastal Bend Day
	at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation sincere
	best wishes for a memorable and enjoyable event.
