R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The State of Texas is home to more than 47,000 highly
  skilled nurse practitioners whose advanced graduate nursing
  education and clinical training qualify them to diagnose and treat
  illnesses, prescribe medications, and provide health counseling to
  patients; and
         WHEREAS, These dedicated professionals play an important
  role in the delivery of high-quality, personalized health care to
  countless Texans, and through their hard work and expertise, they
  contribute significantly to the well-being of communities
  throughout the state, East Texas, and House District 11, which
  serves Panola, Rusk, Nacogdoches, Shelby, Sabine, and Newton
  Counties; and
         WHEREAS, Nurse practitioners are highly valued members of the
  state's health care community; every year, they make an estimated
  one billion patient visits across the state and country, and in so
  doing, they help to bridge gaps in access to care in rural and
  underserved regions and in areas that experience severe provider
  shortages, including primary care, women's health, and mental
  health; and
         WHEREAS, Decades of research have demonstrated the high
  standard of care that nurse practitioners provide, and their
  contributions have been recognized by leading policy and
  governmental entities, such as the National Academy of Medicine,
  the National Governors Association, Brookings, the American
  Enterprise Institute, and over 40 organizations in Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Texas continues to face the challenge of ensuring
  the availability of health care across the state, and nurse
  practitioners are a vital part of the campaign to expand access;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the nurse practitioners of East Texas
  for their dedication to outstanding patient care in their
  communities and extend a warm welcome to all those who are visiting
  the State Capitol on this day.
