R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the State of Texas
  joins the millions around the world in mourning the passing of His
  Highness Shah Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, the 49th hereditary
  Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslim community and Founder and Chairman
  of the Aga Khan Development Network; and
         WHEREAS, Born on December 13, 1936, in Geneva, Switzerland,
  His Highness succeeded his grandfather, Aga Khan III, in 1957 as the
  49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, assuming the
  sacred duty of guiding the Ismaili community in matters of faith and
  leading global humanitarian efforts; and
         WHEREAS, A direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace
  be upon him and his family) through his daughter Hazrat Bibi Fatima
  and his cousin and son-in-law Hazrat Ali, His Highness devoted his
  life to the principles of compassion, service, and the pursuit of
  knowledge; and
         WHEREAS, His Highness was a visionary leader whose commitment
  to social development and humanitarianism was realized through the
  Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), which has provided critical
  resources in healthcare, education, economic development, and
  cultural preservation to communities in more than 30 countries; and
         WHEREAS, Under his leadership, AKDN built hospitals,
  universities, schools, and economic development programs that
  improved the quality of life for millions, regardless of faith or
  nationality; and
         WHEREAS, A champion of pluralism and interfaith dialogue, His
  Highness worked to bridge divides and promote mutual understanding,
  earning numerous international honors; and
         WHEREAS, His Highness Shah Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV,
  passed away on February 4, 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal, leaving
  behind a profound legacy that will continue to inspire future
  generations; and
         WHEREAS, The State of Texas recognizes the extraordinary
  contributions of His Highness in strengthening communities,
  advancing humanitarian causes, and uplifting people through
  education and economic empowerment, including within Texas, where
  the Ismaili Muslim community has flourished under his guidance;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of His Highness Shah
  Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, and extend deepest condolences to
  his family, to the global Ismaili community, and to all those
  mourning his passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of His
  Highness Shah Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV.
