R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Austin County 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl team took |
|
|
first place at the Western National Roundup held on January 9, 2025, |
|
|
in Denver, Colorado; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding achievement followed a number of |
|
|
other impressive performances by the team; after advancing from the |
|
|
District 11 4-H Spring Spectacular in April 2024, the group bested |
|
|
nine other teams to place first at the Texas 4-H Roundup in June, |
|
|
qualifying for the national competition; team Texas defeated Idaho, |
|
|
Colorado, Alaska, and Minnesota to reach the semifinals, where they |
|
|
triumphed over Colorado once again to claim the national |
|
|
championship; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The dedicated members of the Austin County team are |
|
|
all juniors at Bellville High School; Katelyn Krenek, who served as |
|
|
team captain, was named fourth High Point Individual overall, and |
|
|
Madilyn McCullough was named Champion High Point Individual with |
|
|
her record-breaking total of 32 points; the team also received |
|
|
valuable contributions from its other members, Darcy Luedke and |
|
|
Katie Schumann, and is ably guided by coaches Janet and Rodney |
|
|
Melnar; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These accomplished young Texans devoted many hours |
|
|
to increasing their knowledge of livestock-related topics, and |
|
|
their diligence and commitment to their studies are qualities that |
|
|
will serve them well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Austin County 4-H Livestock |
|
|
Quiz Bowl team on winning first place at the Western National |
|
|
Roundup and extend to the members of the team sincere best wishes |
|
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
