R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Amelia Bluhm retired from Tropical Texas Behavioral |
|
Health in the Rio Grande Valley in January 2025, drawing to a close |
|
an exemplary career in nursing that spanned more than 55 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, "Molly" Bluhm began her career in health care at a |
|
hospital nursing home; after her daughter was born, she decided to |
|
find a job that would allow her to work a more regular schedule; she |
|
started at Edinburg Diagnostic and Evaluation Center, now known as |
|
Tropical Texas Behavioral Health, on January 6, 1969, beginning a |
|
long and rewarding tenure with the mental health care facility; and |
|
WHEREAS, During her time at TTBH, Ms. Bluhm took on a variety |
|
of roles, including working in the day activity center, helping |
|
with state school applications, and making home visits; for the |
|
past 25 years, she worked as a licensed vocational nurse in the |
|
children's department, where she excelled at building strong |
|
connections with her patients; she witnessed significant changes in |
|
mental health treatment in South Texas through the decades, with |
|
more patients being able to remain in their homes while undergoing |
|
therapy rather than relocating to state facilities; seeing the |
|
growth in the profession and being able to apply her knowledge to |
|
help patients were the aspects of her career that she found most |
|
rewarding; and |
|
WHEREAS, Molly Bluhm upheld the highest standards of her |
|
profession over the course of more than a half century of dedicated |
|
service, and she may take well-deserved pride in her outstanding |
|
record of achievement as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of |
|
her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Amelia Bluhm on her retirement from |
|
Tropical Texas Behavioral Health and extend to her sincere best |
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Bluhm as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
