R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Geronimo M. Rodriguez Jr. of Austin retired as chief
  advocacy officer of Ascension Texas on January 31, 2025, drawing to
  a close nearly two decades of exemplary service to the health care
  system; and
         WHEREAS, After joining Ascension Texas in 2006, Mr. Rodriguez
  expanded systemwide efforts in such areas as cultural competence,
  workforce development, and civic engagement; his many
  responsibilities included establishing a hospital-based violence
  intervention program, managing a human trafficking education
  initiative, and serving as executive leader of the emergency
  medical response unit; he previously held prominent roles with the
  White House Office of Legislative Affairs, the Presidential
  Personnel Office, and the U.S. Department of Labor Office of the
  Solicitor; and
         WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Rodriguez has been a
  member of such organizations as the St. Edward's University Board
  of Trustees, the Austin Community Foundation Board of Governors,
  and the Hector and Gloria Lopez Foundation; he has received
  numerous accolades, among them a 2024 Neighborhood Builders award
  from Bank of America and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the
  Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and he was named the
  2023 Legacy Leader by the Young Hispanic Professional Association
  of Austin; in addition, he coauthored the chapter "The Importance
  of Diversity in a Healthcare Organization" from the book Hospitals:
  What They Are and How They Work; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Alamo, Mr. Rodriguez graduated from
  St. Edward's University; he went on to attend the Maxwell School of
  Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and earn his
  juris doctor degree from The University of Texas at Austin School of
  Law; and
         WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and
  commitment to excellence, Geronimo Rodriguez has greatly benefited
  his fellow Texans, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career
  well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Geronimo M. Rodriguez Jr. on his
  retirement as chief advocacy officer of Ascension Texas and extend
  to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
