R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The music group Latin Express of Fort Worth is
  celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025; and
         WHEREAS, Since 1975, Latin Express has been led by its
  founder, multi-instrumentalist Carlos Saenz; he started his career
  at the age of 12, playing drums in his father's conjunto band, Nicho
  Saenz Y Los Alegres Del Norte; his own tastes ran more toward the
  Beatles, Motown, Sunny Ozuna, and Carlos Santana, and these
  influences would inform Latin Express, which he formed as a student
  at North Side High School; the group's first concert, a fundraiser
  for a Spanish Club trip, raised $800; five years later, he recruited
  his younger brother, Leo, to play trumpet; and
         WHEREAS, Latin Express continued to build its fan base and
  gain recognition over the years; following the election of
  President George W. Bush, the band performed at an inaugural ball in
  Washington, D.C.; the group has received numerous accolades,
  including recognition by such publications as the Fort Worth Weekly 
  and Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and in 2008, it was inducted into the
  Tejano Roots Hall of Fame; and
         WHEREAS, Known for his proficiency on drums, guitar, bass,
  piano, and vocals, Mr. Saenz is involved in music behind the scenes
  as well; he is the proprietor of Brown Line Productions, the studio
  where Latin Express has recorded its many albums; the facility,
  once occupied by his family's awning business, is also home to the
  Saenz Music for the Performing Arts program, which offers lessons
  in jazz theory and stage performance; Mr. Saenz has taught and
  mentored many music students across the Dallas-Fort Worth area;
  dedicated to his community, he has also provided golf instruction
  to senior citizens and served on the Community Development Council
  of Fort Worth; and
         WHEREAS, Longevity in the music business is difficult to
  achieve, but Latin Express has continued to bring joy to its fans
  for a half century, and it is indeed a pleasure to join in marking
  this momentous milestone; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Latin Express on its 50th
  anniversary and extend to its members sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
