R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A life filled with joy and purpose drew to a close |
|
with the passing of William Perry Cloud of Temple on February 1, |
|
2025, at the age of 95; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of T. J. and Rebe Ogden Cloud, Bill Cloud was |
|
born in Temple on November 19, 1929, and he grew up with a brother, |
|
Thomas; he graduated from Temple High School and continued his |
|
education at The University of Texas at Austin; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1954, Mr. Cloud joined his father's business, |
|
Temple Housing Corporation; in 1961, he became president of the |
|
operation, which was renamed Cloud Construction Company, and he |
|
served in that capacity until 1999; widely respected, he |
|
distinguished himself during his long and rewarding tenure with the |
|
business, and he played an instrumental role in constructing |
|
landmark buildings in Temple and Central Texas; highly engaged in |
|
his community, he was a member of the Temple City Commission and |
|
president of the Temple Chamber of Commerce, the Temple Industrial |
|
Foundation, the Bell County Junior Fair and Livestock Show, and the |
|
Central Texas Cutting Horse Association, among other groups; |
|
moreover, he was a proud veteran, and he served as president of the |
|
Central-Texas Fort Hood Chapter of the Association of the United |
|
States Army and was on the Commanding General's Civilian Advisory |
|
Committee at Fort Hood; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cloud enjoyed the love and |
|
support of his wife, the former Betty Jean Lengefeld, with whom he |
|
shared 66 happy years of marriage before her death in 2017; |
|
together, they raised three children, Renee, Susan, and Perry, and |
|
their family later grew to include five grandchildren and six |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Bill Cloud |
|
leaves behind numerous loved ones whose lives are far richer for |
|
having known him, and he will always hold a treasured place in their |
|
hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of William Perry Cloud |
|
and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to |
|
his children, Renee Fuller, Susan Bolton and her husband, Mancel, |
|
and Perry Cloud and his wife, Laura; to his grandchildren, Mark |
|
Fuller, Katie Moncivais, Kasey Welch, Will Bolton, and Thomas |
|
Cloud; to his great-grandchildren, Max Moncivais, Amelie |
|
Moncivais, Elizabeth Welch, Cooper Welch, Emma Fuller, and |
|
Charlotte Cloud; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill Cloud. |
