R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Delta Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
  Inc., at The University of Texas at Austin is celebrating its
  Founders Week in February 2025; and
         WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha was established in 1908 at Howard
  University as the nation's first sorority for African American
  women; over the years, the organization and its affiliate chapters
  have worked to foster sisterhood, promote social change, and
  support women of all backgrounds through scholarship, service, and
  leadership; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in May 1959 at The University of Texas at
  Austin, the Delta Xi Chapter has upheld the mission of Alpha Kappa
  Alpha Sorority through its dedication to community service,
  educational enrichment, and advocacy on behalf of marginalized
  communities; exemplifying the ideal of "Service to All Mankind,"
  the chapter's members have participated in numerous initiatives
  that focus on health, economic development, education, the arts,
  and the empowerment of women and girls; and
         WHEREAS, As part of its Founders Week event, the Delta Xi
  Chapter is honoring the legacy of the women who paved the way for
  future generations of Alpha Kappa Alpha members; while celebrating
  its heritage, the chapter is reaffirming its commitment to building
  upon its founders' work in the areas of academic achievement, civic
  responsibility, and social justice; and
         WHEREAS, The members of the Delta Xi Chapter have
  demonstrated a steadfast dedication to advancing the worthy goals
  of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and to improving the quality of life
  for their fellow citizens, and they are indeed deserving of
  recognition for their contributions as they celebrate this special
  occasion; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Delta Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha
  Sorority, Inc., on the occasion of its Founders Week celebration
  and extend to the chapter's members sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the chapter as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
