R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Bartlett High School chapter of the |
|
|
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America have distinguished |
|
|
themselves through their participation in the LifeSmarts State and |
|
|
National Championship competitions; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, LifeSmarts is a consumer education program for |
|
|
middle and high school students in which participants study and are |
|
|
assessed on five topic areas: personal finance, consumer rights, |
|
|
health and safety, technology, and the environment; after advancing |
|
|
through online events, students are invited to take part in live |
|
|
team competitions; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the team that won the 2024 LifeSmarts |
|
|
State Championship title for Bartlett High School were Sharon |
|
|
Clawson, Deeaja Monfort, Jaxon Bernstein, Dylan Brown, and Makaela |
|
|
Russell; they were then invited to compete at the National |
|
|
LifeSmarts Championship in San Diego, California, where they placed |
|
|
ninth; the team represented one of only two schools from Texas in |
|
|
attendance; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In January 2025, Bartlett High School placed first |
|
|
for the third year in a row at the LifeSmarts State Championship, |
|
|
qualifying them to compete in April at the National LifeSmarts |
|
|
Championship in Chicago, Illinois; the FCCLA LifeSmarts team |
|
|
members for the 2024-2025 academic year include Dylan Brown, Sharon |
|
|
Clawson, Jaxon Bernstein, Zachary Huebner, and Makaela Russell; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With their fine showing at the recent state and |
|
|
national LifeSmarts competitions, these outstanding young Texans |
|
|
have demonstrated great initiative and ability, and they may indeed |
|
|
look forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Bartlett High School FCCLA |
|
|
LifeSmarts champions on their achievements and extend to them |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Bartlett High School FCCLA LifeSmarts competition |
|
|
team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives. |
