R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas First Insurance is celebrating its 100th |
|
anniversary on February 27, 2025, and this occasion provides a |
|
welcome opportunity to recognize the agency's exemplary service to |
|
residents of the Gulf Coast region; and |
|
WHEREAS, On February 27, 1925, the company was founded in |
|
Texas City as the R. B. Smith Agency; after a number of acquisitions |
|
and mergers, it became known in 1976 as Rust, Ewing, Watt, and |
|
Haney, reflecting the agency's evolution and growth; some four |
|
decades later, Texas Independent Bancshares assumed full ownership |
|
of the company; the agency's subsequent name change to Texas First |
|
Insurance marked an expansion of services to the Houston market; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, Texas First Insurance is one of the largest |
|
independent insurance agencies in the region, with offices in Texas |
|
City, Houston, and Conroe; the company serves individuals, small- |
|
to medium-sized businesses, and large corporations and offers a |
|
wide range of personal and commercial insurance products and |
|
services; highly engaged in the community at large, the agency |
|
supports charities and organizations throughout the Greater |
|
Houston area; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of a century, Texas First Insurance |
|
has contributed to the economic prosperity of the Lone Star State |
|
while building a record of dependability, and the company's |
|
longevity reflects the special degree of esteem it has earned in the |
|
communities it serves; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the centennial of Texas First |
|
Insurance and extend to all those associated with the agency |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Texas First Insurance as an expression of high regard |
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
