R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Multiple campuses in the Midway Independent School |
|
District have been ranked among the best elementary and middle |
|
schools in Texas by U.S. News & World Report; and |
|
WHEREAS, U.S. News evaluated schools across the nation and |
|
employed a comprehensive methodology to assess proficiency in |
|
mathematics and reading/language arts; the more than 79,000 public |
|
elementary and middle schools that were part of their analysis were |
|
ranked based on a number of additional factors, including student |
|
background and achievement in core subjects; and |
|
WHEREAS, Serving more than 8,750 students across 11 campuses, |
|
Midway ISD seeks to foster a challenging and supportive learning |
|
environment where young people are prepared to excel in a global |
|
society; the district is ably guided by superintendent Dr. Chris |
|
Allen, and it also benefits from the leadership of its board of |
|
trustees, which includes president Pete Rusek, vice president Susan |
|
Vick, secretary Pam Watts, and members Rick Tullis, Brad Alford, |
|
Colin Witt, and Jonathan Green; and |
|
WHEREAS, Among the campuses recognized by U.S. News were |
|
Woodway Elementary School, which ranked in the top 6.5 percent of |
|
over 6,600 elementary schools in Texas, and South Bosque |
|
Elementary, which at No. 84 was in the top 1.2 percent; |
|
additionally, Midway Middle School placed in the top 8.5 percent of |
|
more than 4,000 middle schools statewide; and |
|
WHEREAS, Providing young citizens with a quality education is |
|
essential to creating a prosperous future for our state and nation, |
|
and Midway ISD is to be commended for all that it is doing to help |
|
students to reach their full potential; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Midway Independent School District |
|
on its impressive showing in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best |
|
Elementary and Middle Schools rankings and that all those |
|
associated with the district be extended sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success with their important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Midway ISD as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
