R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Houston Black American Democrats are |
|
|
gathering in Austin on March 19, 2025, for Houston Black American |
|
|
Democrats Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to increasing civic engagement among |
|
|
African Americans and myriad other underserved groups, the Houston |
|
|
Black American Democrats facilitates voter education and |
|
|
participation, volunteer efforts, and leadership development; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active at the local, state, and national levels of |
|
|
government, H-BAD employs a year-round program to maximize its |
|
|
effectiveness; in addition, the organization champions candidates |
|
|
and political initiatives that support the ideals and principles of |
|
|
the Democratic Party, such as justice and social welfare; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Houston Black American Democrats works |
|
|
tirelessly to empower citizens from historically marginalized |
|
|
communities to participate in the democratic process, and the group |
|
|
is indeed worthy of recognition for its significant contributions; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 19, 2025, as Houston Black |
|
|
American Democrats Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm |
|
|
welcome to the visiting delegation. |
