R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Brooke Rollins of Fort Worth was sworn in as the 33rd |
|
United States secretary of agriculture on February 13, 2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Glen Rose, Brooke Leslie Rollins grew up |
|
helping out on her family's farm and raising livestock for 4-H and |
|
the Future Farmers of America; she served as a Texas FFA Association |
|
officer and worked for the National FFA Organization; a graduate of |
|
Texas A&M University, she earned a bachelor's degree in |
|
agricultural development with honors and had the distinction of |
|
being elected as the first female student body president in the |
|
university's history; and |
|
WHEREAS, After receiving her juris doctor degree with honors |
|
from The University of Texas School of Law, Secretary Rollins |
|
served as the policy director for Governor Rick Perry; she went on |
|
to lead the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a free market research |
|
institute, as president and CEO for 15 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Secretary Rollins previously served under President |
|
Donald J. Trump as director of the Domestic Policy Council and as |
|
assistant to the president for strategic initiatives; most |
|
recently, she added to her notable record of nonprofit leadership |
|
in her work as the founder, president, and CEO of the America First |
|
Policy Institute; and |
|
WHEREAS, Brooke Rollins has risen to national prominence as a |
|
public policy advocate and a champion for the principles of free |
|
enterprise and conservative governance, and the experience she has |
|
acquired along the way is certain to serve her well in this |
|
important cabinet position; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Brooke Rollins on the occasion of her |
|
appointment as the 33rd United States secretary of agriculture and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Secretary Rollins as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
