R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of retired Texas game warden Garth William Shelby Robinson |
|
Jr. on August 5, 2024, at the age of 83; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on Christmas Day in 1940, Bill Robinson was the |
|
son of Garth and Juanita Robinson; he graduated from Midway High |
|
School in 1959 and went on to sell cars for the Bird Kultgen Ford |
|
dealership in Waco before embarking on his career as a game warden |
|
with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in 1966; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the Marble Falls and Kerrville regions, |
|
Mr. Robinson found tremendous fulfillment in his work and the |
|
opportunity it provided him to protect Texas' natural resources and |
|
ensure the safety of his fellow citizens; he was the recipient of |
|
numerous awards and commendations for his distinguished service, |
|
and he eventually retired as the chief of fisheries enforcement; a |
|
leader in his profession, he served his peers as president of the |
|
Texas Game Warden Association from 2000 to 2003 and also taught at |
|
the Game Warden Training Center in Austin; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Robinson enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, Margaret; together, they created a blended |
|
family that included his sons, Mark, Steve, and Bryan, and his |
|
stepchildren, Jane, Brenda, Mark, Melanie, Robyn, and Robert, and |
|
over the years, he was blessed with many grandchildren and |
|
great-grandchildren as well; he took great pride in his involvement |
|
with the Blazing Star Masonic Lodge No. 413 in Marble Falls, and he |
|
had recently been awarded his 50-year certificate as a member of the |
|
organization; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bill Robinson was a devoted family man and a |
|
significant asset to his community and to the Texas Parks and |
|
Wildlife Department, and he leaves behind a record of service that |
|
will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know |
|
him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Garth William |
|
Shelby Robinson Jr. and extend deepest condolences to the members |
|
of his family: to his wife, Margaret Robinson; to his sons, Mark, |
|
Steve, and Bryan Robinson; to his sister, Jean Pederson, and her |
|
husband, Charles; to his stepchildren, Jane, Brenda, Mark, Melanie, |
|
Robyn, and Robert; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; |
|
and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Garth |
|
William Shelby Robinson Jr. |
