R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Woodlands marked the 50th anniversary of its |
|
founding in October 2024; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established by visionary oil and business magnate |
|
George P. Mitchell in 1974, The Woodlands has grown into a |
|
nationally recognized master-planned community; with its natural |
|
beauty, urban conveniences, and robust business climate, the city |
|
offers an exceptional living and working environment to a diverse |
|
and dynamic population of more than 120,000 residents; and |
|
WHEREAS, Known for its high quality of life and its |
|
dedication to environmental preservation and economic vitality, |
|
The Woodlands was ranked by Niche.com as the second-best city to |
|
live and the second-best city to raise a family in the United States |
|
in 2024, and it also topped that publication's list of the best |
|
cities in which to purchase a home; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Woodlands has established itself as a premier |
|
economic hub, attracting businesses and fostering innovation while |
|
maintaining an emphasis on responsible development and community |
|
engagement; its amenities include a variety of cultural, |
|
educational, and recreational offerings that enrich the lives of |
|
residents and visitors alike, and its ongoing investments in public |
|
safety, infrastructure, and education have furthered its |
|
reputation as a model for municipalities across the nation; and |
|
WHEREAS, The citizens and the business and community leaders |
|
of The Woodlands have demonstrated a shared commitment to the |
|
continued well-being and prosperity of their vibrant city, and they |
|
may indeed take pride in the work they have done to make the |
|
community such a treasured asset to the Lone Star State; now, |
|
therefore, be it |

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of The |
|
Woodlands and pay tribute to the city's outstanding record of |
|
excellence for the past half-century; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the leaders and residents of The Woodlands as an |
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
