R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A delegation from the Texas Society of |
|
Gastroenterology and Endoscopy is visiting the State Capitol on |
|
March 4, 2025, for the organization's Legislative Advocacy Day; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1975, the Texas Society of |
|
Gastroenterology and Endoscopy is made up of physicians and health |
|
care professionals who are dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, |
|
and treatment of digestive diseases, including colorectal cancer; |
|
the organization, which has more than 800 members, also provides |
|
continuing medical education to physicians, advanced practice |
|
providers, and nurses and advocates for policies that support |
|
patient access to life-saving screenings, strengthen the health |
|
care workforce, and advance innovations in gastroenterology; and |
|
WHEREAS, March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, |
|
providing a fitting opportunity to recognize TSGE and highlight the |
|
importance of screening, early detection, and prevention; while |
|
colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related |
|
deaths in the United States, it is one of the most preventable types |
|
of cancer when caught early; Texas has made progress in increasing |
|
access to screenings, but there is still work to be done to ensure |
|
that all Texans, especially those in underserved communities, have |
|
the opportunity to detect and prevent this disease; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy |
|
is working to ensure that Texas remains a leader in digestive care |
|
and cancer prevention, and its members should be commended for |
|
their efforts to improve health care across the Lone Star State; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 4, 2025, as Legislative Advocacy |
|
Day for the Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy at the |
|
State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting delegation. |
