R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Bahá'í Faith, a worldwide religion that |
|
originated in the mid-19th century, is dedicated to promoting the |
|
principles of unity, peace, and justice, while emphasizing the |
|
oneness of humanity and the equal worth of all people; and |
|
WHEREAS, This religious group has been an integral part of |
|
Texas for many decades, and its adherents have greatly enriched our |
|
state through their acts of service and interfaith collaboration |
|
and through their support for initiatives that promote education, |
|
community development, and racial harmony; and |
|
WHEREAS, Across Texas, Bahá'ís uphold their faith's core |
|
teachings of love, service, and the independent investigation of |
|
truth, and they strive to foster understanding and cooperation |
|
among people from all walks of life; and |
|
WHEREAS, The observance of Bahá'í Day provides an opportunity |
|
for all Texans to recognize and appreciate the positive difference |
|
that the Bahá'í community has made in our state, as well as to |
|
reflect on the universal values of peace, justice, and social |
|
progress that are the foundation of the religion; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Bahá'í Faith has inspired countless followers to |
|
become agents of change for the good of all humankind, and through |
|
the celebration of Bahá'í Day at the State Capitol, we are affirming |
|
our state's commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and the shared |
|
pursuit of a more just and unified society; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize April 29, 2025, as Bahá'í Day at the |
|
State Capitol and encourage all Texans to join in honoring the |
|
contributions of the Bahá'í community to our great state. |
