R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Teen and Police Service Academy of Houston is |
|
making a positive difference in the lives of young citizens; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to reducing the social distance between |
|
youth and law enforcement personnel, TAPS Academy promotes |
|
interaction and discussion between teenagers and police mentors; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Student participants enhance their decision-making |
|
skills and earn course credit during the 17-week TAPS Academy |
|
program, which addresses a variety of important topics, including |
|
conflict resolution, truancy, drugs and alcohol, and crime |
|
prevention; moreover, the organization offers several other |
|
initiatives, including the Texas Education Agency-accredited |
|
TEENPOL program, TAPS Ambassadors, the Summer Youth Leadership |
|
Institute, and the Texas Traffic Stop Training course; and |
|
WHEREAS, By encouraging understanding between young people |
|
and law enforcement professionals, the TAPS Academy of Houston is |
|
helping to shape a brighter future for area residents, and it is |
|
indeed deserving of recognition for its efforts; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend the Teen and Police Service Academy of |
|
Houston for its contributions to the community and extend to all |
|
involved with the organization sincere best wishes for the future; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for TAPS Academy of Houston as an expression of high regard |
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
