R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The observance of International Women's Day on |
|
|
March 8, 2025, provides an opportunity to recognize the many |
|
|
contributions women have made to our society; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, International Women's Day was first observed in the |
|
|
United States in 1910, and over the decades, numerous countries |
|
|
have set aside a day to honor women for their achievements and |
|
|
promote gender equality; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, International Women's Day currently takes place |
|
|
each year on March 8, when millions of people around the globe join |
|
|
together to highlight the successes of women and raise awareness of |
|
|
gender inequality; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Women have contributed to the vibrancy and |
|
|
prosperity of the Lone Star State in many ways, and International |
|
|
Women's Day serves to rally communities worldwide in the effort to |
|
|
empower women in all walks of life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 8, 2025, as International |
|
|
Women's Day. |
