R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The House has learned with sadness of the death of |
|
|
the Honorable Sylvester Turner, who passed away on March 5, 2025, at |
|
|
the age of 70; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Turner represented Texas House District 139 in |
|
|
Harris County from January 10, 1989, to January 1, 2016, and he |
|
|
served as Speaker Pro Tempore during the 78th, 79th, and 80th |
|
|
Legislatures; he went on to serve as the 62nd mayor of Houston from |
|
|
2016 to 2024, and he was elected to the United States House of |
|
|
Representatives in 2024; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby grant permission for the body of the Honorable |
|
|
Sylvester Turner to lie in honor in the Hall of the House of |
|
|
Representatives on Thursday, March 13, 2025, and Friday, March 14, |
|
|
2025, under the direction and supervision of the Committee on House |
|
|
Administration. |
