R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Southwestern Province of Kappa Alpha
  Psi Fraternity, Inc., are gathering in Austin to celebrate Kappa
  Day at the State Capitol on March 11, 2025; and
         WHEREAS, One of the oldest historically Black Greek-letter
  fraternities in the nation, Kappa Alpha Psi was founded at Indiana
  University in 1911; nearly two decades later, the fraternity
  established its Southwestern Province to serve chapters in
  Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Mississippi, and Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Southwestern Province of
  Kappa Alpha Psi has upheld the fraternity's mission to encourage a
  commitment to excellence and to promote the well-being of its
  members and their communities; many of the organization's alumni
  have distinguished themselves as leaders in education, public
  service, business, and civic engagement; and
         WHEREAS, For more than a century, Kappa Alpha Psi has worked
  to foster a brotherhood of concerned citizens who devote themselves
  to the greater good, and its members may indeed reflect with pride
  on their organization's noteworthy tradition of activism and
  achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 11, 2025, as Kappa Day at the
  State Capitol and extend to all those associated with Kappa Alpha
  Psi Fraternity, Inc., sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Southwestern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
