R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Texas State University celebrated its 125th
  anniversary in 2024; and
         WHEREAS, Established as Southwest Texas State Normal School
  on May 10, 1899, with the purpose of training the future teachers of
  Texas, the institution first opened its doors on September 9, 1903,
  and the inaugural class of 32 teachers graduated in May 1904; the
  school was renamed several times through the ensuing decades as the
  scope of its mission broadened, and in 2013, it adopted its
  present-day name; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Texas State is a dynamic institution of
  higher learning with a long tradition of research and academic
  excellence, and it serves more than 40,000 students and offers over
  200 degree programs across its nine colleges; moreover, its alumni
  network consists of some 230,000 graduates; and
         WHEREAS, Texas State operates out of two campuses, in San
  Marcos and Round Rock, and in August 2025, it is opening an
  international campus in Mexico; among its many accolades, TXST was
  recognized as a Fulbright Hispanic-Serving Institution Leader by
  the U.S. Department of State for the second consecutive year in
  2024; and
         WHEREAS, Since its founding 125 years ago, Texas State has
  provided generations of Texans with a strong foundation for
  achievement, and in so doing, it has contributed significantly to
  the prosperity and vitality of the Lone Star State; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 125th anniversary of Texas State
  University and commend all those who have contributed to its
  mission of building a better tomorrow; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for TXST as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
  of Representatives.
