R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Theatre education nurtures creativity and provides
  students with unique opportunities to explore different
  perspectives, enhance their communication skills, and develop a
  deeper understanding of human experiences; and
         WHEREAS, Participation in theatre activities has been shown
  to improve students' academic performance, boost their
  self-esteem, and encourage teamwork and collaboration; in
  addition, theatre education promotes engagement in school and the
  school community, and the skills gained through involvement in
  theatre, including public speaking, problem-solving, and project
  management, are essential for success in today's dynamic and
  interconnected world; and
         WHEREAS, In 2024, 18 cities across Texas recognized March as
  Theatre in Our Schools Month to acknowledge the importance of
  theatre education and to celebrate the ways that public education
  is enriched by performing arts programming; in March 2025, members
  of the Texas chapter of the International Thespian Society are
  visiting Austin for Theatre in Our Schools Month at the State
  Capitol; an affiliate of the Educational Theatre Association, the
  International Thespian Society is a high school honor society for
  students who demonstrate excellence in the performing arts and
  education; with more than 10,000 members, Texas Thespians is the
  organization's largest chapter in the nation; and
         WHEREAS, By supporting theatre education, the State of Texas
  is reaffirming its commitment to preparing students for the
  challenges and opportunities of the future, and Theatre in Our
  Schools Month serves to highlight the positive impact that access
  to theatre arts programs has in the lives of countless young Texans;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 2025 as Theatre in Our Schools
  Month and acknowledge the value of theatre in the education of our
  youth.
