R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Robert Thomas Savely is celebrating his 90th
  birthday on March 27, 2025, and this occasion provides a welcome
  opportunity for family, friends, and members of his community to
  express the respect and admiration they hold for this esteemed NASA
  scientist; and
         WHEREAS, In 1935, Robert Savely was born on a farm in
  Nebraska; answering his nation's call to duty, he enlisted in the
  U.S. military, serving with distinction and laying the foundation
  for a remarkable career with NASA; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Savely embarked on his tenure with NASA in 1963;
  among his many achievements over the years, he created an AI program
  and was instrumental in the advancement of technology as chief
  scientist for robotics; moreover, he developed a computer language,
  and he worked with his colleagues to efficiently manage mission
  control shifts; a distinguished senior scientist, he is the
  recipient of a multitude of accolades from NASA, including the
  Manned Spacecraft Center Superior Achievement Award for his
  preparation of computations and analyses for the Apollo 13 crew and
  the Exceptional Service Medal for his commitment to excellence in
  the research and development of innovative technology; moreover, he
  has been honored with Group Achievement Awards for his outstanding
  efforts with the space shuttle program and the Earth resources
  experiment team, Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center Superior
  Achievement Awards for his valued role in the space shuttle program
  and work with the orbiter navigation system and shuttle flights,
  and the Manned Flight Awareness Honoree Award; and
         WHEREAS, Actively involved in his community, he has served on
  the Clear Lake City Water Authority Board of Directors for more than
  four decades; in all his endeavors, Mr. Savely benefits from the
  love and support of his wife of over 65 years, their two children,
  and their grandchildren; he is known for his generosity and
  willingness to help others, and he has enjoyed tutoring students in
  computer languages; and
         WHEREAS, With the passage of another year, Robert Savely may
  reflect with pride on his wide-ranging accomplishments and on the
  many significant contributions he has made in behalf of his fellow
  citizens; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Thomas Savely on the joyous
  occasion of his 90th birthday and extend to him sincere
  appreciation for his groundbreaking work with NASA; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Savely as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
