R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Nepali Lumbini Advocacy Day is taking place at the
  State Capitol on March 13, 2025, providing a fitting opportunity to
  recognize the many contributions of the Nepalese American community
  in Texas and to celebrate the rich history of the province of
  Lumbini in Nepal; and
         WHEREAS, The United States and Nepal have enjoyed a strong
  and productive friendship for 77 years; on April 25, 1947, the
  U.S. became the second country to establish diplomatic relations
  with Nepal, which opened its embassy in Washington, D.C., in 1958;
  the American Embassy in Kathmandu began operations the following
  year; since that time, many Americans and Nepalis have formed
  people-to-people connections through educational and cultural
  exchanges; and
         WHEREAS, One of the most sacred locations in Buddhism,
  Lumbini is recognized as the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, who
  became the Buddha; the area has been named a UNESCO World Heritage
  Site, and it is a major spiritual destination for people of the
  Buddhist faith; and
         WHEREAS, Lumbini attracts millions of pilgrims and tourists
  annually, and it serves as a research center for scholars and
  archeologists; the area features such attractions as monasteries,
  temples, and historical landmarks, including the Maya Devi Temple,
  which marks the location of the Buddha's birth; and
         WHEREAS, The Nepalese American community plays a vital role
  in the business, professional, and cultural life of Texas, and the
  participants in this advocacy day are demonstrating their
  commitment to making an even greater positive impact in the years
  ahead; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 13, 2025, as Nepali Lumbini
  Advocacy Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the
  visiting delegation.
