R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Birdville High School in North Richland Hills has |
|
earned the distinction of being the only school in Texas invited to |
|
perform in the Chapter Select One-Act Showcase at the 2025 |
|
International Thespian Festival; and |
|
WHEREAS, Produced by the Educational Theatre Association, |
|
the International Thespian Festival is a weeklong celebration of |
|
student achievement in the performing arts; each year, thousands of |
|
high school drama students and teachers participate in workshops, |
|
view top-level stage productions, and network with colleges, |
|
industry leaders, and Broadway professionals; and |
|
WHEREAS, In November 2024, the Birdville StageHawks placed |
|
first at the Texas Thespian Festival Chapter Select One-Act Play |
|
competition with an original work by head theatre director and |
|
Birdville Independent School District alumnus Trevin McLaughlin; |
|
Lindsey Fincher received the Best Performer award, and Landry |
|
Childress and Patrick McGaughey were presented with Excellent |
|
Performer awards; in recognition of the Birdville High theatre |
|
department's excellent showing, the school was invited to |
|
participate in the International Thespian Festival for the first |
|
time in more than a decade; and |
|
WHEREAS, The talented members of the Birdville StageHawks |
|
have distinguished themselves as one of the best high school |
|
performing arts groups in the nation, and they may indeed take pride |
|
in this outstanding achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Birdville High School |
|
StageHawks Theatre Department on its invitation to participate in |
|
the Chapter Select One-Act Showcase at the 2025 International |
|
Thespian Festival and extend to its members sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the Birdville StageHawks as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
