R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Proud representatives of the National Pan-Hellenic
  Council are visiting the State Capitol on March 18, 2025; and
         WHEREAS, Founded on May 10, 1930, the National Pan-Hellenic
  Council works to promote the well-being of its affiliate
  fraternities and sororities, to facilitate the development of local
  councils, and to provide leadership training to its members; today,
  the organization consists of nine historically African American
  fraternities and sororities, including Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,
  Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Omega Psi
  Phi Fraternity, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Phi Beta Sigma
  Fraternity, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, and
  Iota Phi Theta Fraternity; and
         WHEREAS, Together known as the Divine Nine, the groups that
  make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council boast a rich history of
  academic excellence and community service, and they have played an
  instrumental role in shaping generations of leaders; the
  organizations support their members in a wide range of academic,
  professional, and civic endeavors, and over the years, they have
  helped to strengthen communities and address societal challenges
  both locally and globally; and
         WHEREAS, Many members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council
  have excelled in the fields of politics, education, arts, and
  entertainment, and they have used their platforms to advocate for
  social justice and equality; Divine Nine alumni who are currently
  serving in the Texas House of Representatives include State
  Representatives Senfronia Thompson, Dr. Alma Allen, Harold V.
  Dutton, Jr., Venton Jones, Jolanda "Jo" Jones, Aicha Davis,
  Charlene Ward Johnson, Lauren Ashley Simmons, Rhetta Andrews
  Bowers, Toni Rose, and Ron Reynolds; and
         WHEREAS, The National Pan-Hellenic Council has worked to
  foster brotherhoods and sisterhoods of concerned citizens who
  devote themselves to the greater good, and its members may indeed
  reflect with pride on their noteworthy tradition of activism and
  achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 18, 2025, as National
  Pan-Hellenic Council Day at the Texas State Capitol and extend a
  warm welcome to the visiting delegation.
