R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The celebration of University of North Texas at
  Dallas Day at the State Capitol on March 20, 2025, provides a
  welcome opportunity to recognize this notable institution; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 2010, UNT Dallas is the only public,
  accredited four-year university in the city, and it is designated
  as a Minority Serving Institution and a Hispanic Serving
  Institution by the U.S. Department of Education; with a total
  enrollment of nearly 3,600, approximately 70 percent of
  undergraduates are first-generation students and many receive
  federal assistance through Pell Grants; and
         WHEREAS, UNT Dallas offers the most affordable college
  education in North Texas, and it is consistently ranked as one of
  the top public institutions for social mobility; over the past
  decade, more than 5,000 local students have earned bachelor's
  degrees, and most graduates have stayed in North Texas, where they
  often work in such high-demand fields as bilingual teaching, law
  enforcement, mental health counseling, business, health care, and
  law; the UNT Dallas College of Law provides a hands-on legal
  education to highly motivated students, and it has distinguished
  itself as one of the only schools in North Texas to accept
  first-year law students in both full-time and part-time programs;
  and
         WHEREAS, Throughout its history, UNT Dallas has demonstrated
  a commitment to ensuring that students graduate with the education
  and skills needed to succeed in an increasingly demanding job
  market, and in so doing, it has helped empower students, transform
  lives, and strengthen communities; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 20, 2025, as University of North
  Texas at Dallas Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those
  affiliated with the institution sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the university as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
