WHEREAS, Employees, advocates, and partners of the energy
industry are celebrating Texas Hydrogen Day at the State Capitol on
  March 19, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Texas plays a pivotal part in the U.S. hydrogen
economy, producing nearly one-third of the nation's hydrogen,
primarily from its abundant natural gas resources; the state
benefits from a well-established energy sector, including the
country's largest hydrogen pipeline network, spanning more than
1,100 miles along the Gulf Coast, and significant industrial hubs
such as Houston, which is often referred to as the "Energy Capital
  of the World"; and
WHEREAS, While the United States is expanding its hydrogen
infrastructure, Texas stands out due to its robust existing
framework and ongoing investments in hydrogen projects; this
positions the state as a leader in the transition to a clean
hydrogen economy, contributing significantly to national goals
while serving as a model for leveraging traditional energy assets
  for future energy solutions; and
WHEREAS, Advances in hydrogen technology help reduce
emissions by providing a clean energy alternative; green hydrogen
emits no carbon dioxide, which supports decarbonization in such
industries as steel, cement, and chemical, while hydrogen fuel
cells power vehicles with water as the only byproduct; moreover,
hydrogen also enables renewable energy storage and grid stability,
  while blue hydrogen captures carbon dioxide during production;
together, these innovations improve air quality and drive a
  sustainable energy future; and
WHEREAS, Hydrogen is a vital component of everyday life,
enabling the production of ammonia for fertilizers, fuels for
transportation, and methanol for plastics, resins, and adhesives
used in household goods; by 2050, the clean hydrogen economy in
Texas could encompass 180,000 jobs, boost the state GDP by
$100 billion, or 6 percent, and produce 21 million tons of clean
hydrogen, driving significant economic and energy growth; as
hydrogen technology scales, it plays an instrumental role in
reducing energy costs, enhancing grid reliability, and positioning
the U.S. as a global leader in clean energy exports, bolstering its
  geopolitical influence; and
WHEREAS, In Texas, the hydrogen industry capitalizes on the
state's abundant natural resources, established infrastructure,
and robust energy expertise to create jobs, attract investments,
and drive innovation, and it is indeed fitting that the state's
hydrogen industry and its partners be recognized for their myriad
contributions to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize March 19, 2025, as Texas Hydrogen Day
at the State Capitol and extend to all those participating in the
event sincere best wishes for the future.
